What's going on in storyland?
Jun. 19th, 2019 05:53 pmRight now, When We Dead Awaken (the first of my Elena Of Avalor fics) and the untitled-as-of-now Road Rovers fic are both nothing more then messy-looking outlines/rough drafts.
The former is going to be a short story that's more of a series of snapshots into how Esteban and the fam start adjusting to their post-Shuriki lives, and as a result is real heavy on the character exploration. Not being able to watch "Elena And The Secret Of Avalor" (haven't been able to find an upload online, haven't seen it on the Disney Go streaming service, and it hasn't re-aired on any of the Disney channels) has put a damper on WWDA, since the story picks up right after Shuruki's little swan dive there.
WWDA's outline is more of a list of potential ideas -- "Well, this could happen." Outlining the characters' actual dialogue seems utterly pointless to me personally. Usually I'll just put down that they discuss this or that or what have you, but that's it. When it comes to dialogue (within the actual story itself), I just start writing and the characters tell me what they want to say (although sometimes that's easier said then done). I do have a basic idea at least of what's going to happen in each chapter. But there are little details for EoA's historical setting that I need to research. I'm also not quite sure how to end everything. But since I'm only going to post stories when they're almost finished or are finished from now on, it's no big.
As for the fanfic I mentioned, I also decided to screw chronological story order and just start working on of my RR ideas. It's set further on down my storyverse's timeline, so it won't be posted when it's done for that very reason. I'm also working on revamping the Pouncers' (my RR spinoff team formerly known as Tao's Ferreteers) origin story -- only now it'll be a single story that'll cover more of their adventures beyond their formation.
